When it comes to moving supplies it’s not all about the cardboard boxes and packing tape. There are a lot more moving and packing supplies you will need for the move. To help you out, Copperstate Moving has created a list of some moving must-haves and just nice-to-haves when packing up to move.
Purchase cardboard boxes or rent plastic moving ones for stowing all of your belongings in for the move. You will need various sizes of boxes if you are going to use cardboard. Box sizes come in small, medium, large, extra-large, and wardrobe boxes. If you choose to rent plastic boxes or buy your own, make sure you run through an inventory to know if you have enough.
When purchasing packing tape you’ll want to make sure that you are buying quality tape and plenty of it! Tape is used to build the boxes and to seal them up once everything is packed. You’ll want to skip out on the dollar store brand and splurge a little to make sure the tape is durable.
This is an additional item on the list that you will need plenty of. The paper is used to wrap fragile or sharp items, as well as add extra cushion and stability inside the boxes. You’ll want to make sure that the packing paper you buy is ink-free. Ink can sometimes bleed onto your belongings.
This item isn’t a necessity, but it definitely helps! It helps keep things together and sturdy. Plastic wrap can also be used for preventing bottle leaks (remove the cap, apply a small piece of plastic wrap, and put the cap back on.
This can be used to wrap up fragile items like things made of glass, ceramic, and porcelain. It can also be used as extra padding around items to prevent too much movement and possible damage during the move.
You’ll want to have the basics on hand to disassemble and reassemble furniture. A screwdriver, hammer, and a wrench with a range of heads should be just enough to keep on hand if you might need them on a moving day.
These might be some of the most useful moving supplies that will help keep your boxes and unpacking process more organized. The more organized you stay by labeling your boxes, the smoother of a move it will be.
