Moving Essentials List

Packing for a move can be a satisfying task, but Copperstate Moving wants to warn you not to get carried away. There are a few items that should be left out for moving day that you might need.

Preparing a move-in essentials list will allow you to breathe a little easier once you arrive at your new home. This will prevent you from having to dig through your methodically packed boxes trying to find your charger, clean set of clothes, or any other essentials you might need.

Cleaning Supplies

These are moving necessities that should be the easiest to grab. If you are lucky enough to have access to your new home before the move-in day, then you can prepare by giving it a good clean. Nothing is better than moving in with an actual clean slate.

Basic Cleaning Supplies Needed:

• Sponges
• Dish soap
• Hand soap (1 for each sink)
• Paper towels
• All-purpose cleaner
• A broom and dustpan
• Dust clothes or rags
• Toilet paper (1 roll for each bathroom)

Clean Bedding and Pillows

One of the last things done before packing all the boxes for transportation is stripping your bed. If your bedding is clean enough, then pack this separately so that it remains clean. This way, you can spend your first night in your new home in a fresh and clean bed.  

Toolkit and Flashlight

While decorating and picture hanging may not happen the first day, it is still helpful to have a toolkit accessible for when those tasks do come up. 

Phone Chargers and Bluetooth Speakers

With a long moving day ahead, the last thing you’ll want is a dead phone! The day can be both draining on you and your phone, so keep your phone charger near your or in an easy place to grab it when needed. Also, make sure your speakers are charged so you can play soothing music or some of your favorite tunes to keep the stress at bay. 

An Overnight Bag

Another part of our must-haves for moving is an overnight bag. Our local movers know some essentials that you should pack:

• A pair of pajamas
• Clothes for the next day
• Daily medications
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Shower essentials (soap, shampoo, conditioner)
• Shower curtain
• Towels 
• Any toiletries needed for the night
